Crime Watch

Maid commits suicide

Sixteen-year-old P. Mangamma of Moosarambagh, who reportedly consumed poison at her residence on Saturday, died on Sunday while undergoing treatment at Osmania Hospital. She was working as a maidservant. It is learnt that her grandmother, Bheemamma reprimanded her for coming home late, following which she resorted to the extreme step. The Malakpet police registered a case.

Electrocuted

A welder, Mohammed Khader Khan (45) died on the spot after he suffered an electric shock while working on the footbridge under construction near platform number 2 at Kachiguda railway station on Saturday.

Cyclist dies

An employee with a private firm, S. Shivakumar (22) died after the cycle he was riding was hit by a lorry at Borabanda on Saturday. He was returning home when the lorry (AP 15 U 358) hit him from behing killing him instantly. The victim was a resident of Rama Rao Nagar.

Man hangs himself

A physically challenged person, P. Shivakumar (25) of Patigadda reportedly hanged himself from the ceiling fan at his residence on Sunday morning. It is learnt that Shivakumar had lost his limbs when he accidentally fell from a height six months ago. Since then he was depressed. Shivakumar has two children.

House burgled

Miscreants gained entry into the house of one B. Mohan Reddy at Vani Nagar in Saidabad and decamped with five tolas of gold jewellery. He and his had gone to his native place for Sankranthi. They returned on Saturday and found the door locks broken open. The Saidabad police registered a case.

Case against theatre

The Sanjeevareddy Nagar police registered a case against the management of Seeshmahal theatre for allegedly screening obscene films. The complaint was lodged by K.R.J. Babu, a retired DSP and liaison officer with the Censor Board cell.

VCDs seized

Sleuths of North zone Task Force team raided Digital video library at Bowenpally and seized over 580 pirated VCDs on Saturday. The library owner, B. Srikanth, of Gandhinagar was arrested. In another raid, the Central zone Task Force team raided Pragnya video library at Chikkadpally and seized nearly 150 pirated VCDs and 10 porn VCDs on Saturday. The library owner, R. Mallesh was arrested.
