Donations to relief fund cross Rs. 500 crores

NEW DELHI,
JAN. 17.
Contributions to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund towards the tsunami victims have crossed Rs. 517 crores. The contributions received over the last two days include Rs. 4,902 by Satish Sharma from Pathankot who cycled to Delhi, collecting donations on the way.
The momentum of contributions has been maintained with receipts over the last two working days totalling Rs. 44.70 crores. Among the contributors were HCL Rs. 4 crores, the Central Bank of India Rs. 2 crores, the Dental Council and Medical Council of India Rs. 1.11 crores each, the Labour Ministry Rs. 1.10 crores, the BASF Rs. 1.40 crores and Vijaya Bank and RPG Enterprises Rs. 1 crore each.
The contributions are also being received directly at bank branches and online and are being collated separately. A sum of Rs. 2.20 crores has been received online so far, according to a release by the Prime Minister's Office.
