MARGAO, JAN. 17 An injury time goal by striker Felix Ibrebru helped Salgaocar beat Vasco 1-0 and record its first win in the National Football League at the Nehru Stadium here on Monday. Salgaocar failed to cash in on its advantage in the first half after Vasco was reduced to ten men when its Brazilian recruit got expelled after getting his second yellow card. Salgaocar did more of the probing before the break and created several chances which were wasted by its erratic strikers. The pattern repeated in the second half the match headed to a goalless draw. But Salgaocar made amends for all its earlier lapses when a deflected shot by Rocus Lamare was tapped in by Ibrebru following a goalmouth melee. The win gave Salgaocar its first three points after its shock defeat to promotees State Bank of Travancore last week. Salgaocar also was reduced to ten men in the last quarter when Micky Fernandes got his second yellow card for a rough challenge on Menino. For Vasco it was its second defeat in as many matches in the new season. Meanwhile, the AIF announced that the NFL would be telecast live on DD sports. Matches in Goa will be telecast from 4.15 p.m., those in Kolkata 2.30 p.m., in Mumbai 3.30 p.m. and in Punjab from 2.00 p.m. PTI
