Book released

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, JAN. 17. The Lok Sabha Speaker, Somnath Chatterjee, said here today that when a government was tyrannical, courts become an instrument for it to wreak vengeance. He was releasing a new book by A.G. Noorani, "Indian Political Trials 1775-1947", at the Parliament House Library.

The author Mr. Noorani and his publisher, Manzar Khan, Managing Director of Oxford University Press India, were present.

Mr. Noorani said he was inspired to write this book as he felt that little was known about the political trials that took place in British India and which formed a very important part of the freedom struggle.
