Shimoga
By Our Special Correspondent
SHIMOGA, JAN. 18. The Shimoga district branch of the Karnataka State Higher Secondary Associate Teachers' Association and the Amateur Astronomers' Association have urged the Government to set up a "District Science Centre" in Shimoga. A joint delegation of these associations, led by the Shimoga MLA, K.S. Eshwarappa, presented a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, Tushar Girinath, here to press their demand. "It will be of help to students as well as common people to understand scientific subjects if one of them is established in Shimoga soon," it was stated in the memorandum. The delegation has urged the Government to set apart a five-acre land in Shimoga for a science centre. It said the members of the two associations will help the Government in setting up the centre. Others who led the delegation included the Director of the Amateur Astronomers' Association, Haronahally Swamy, and the President of the Shimoga District unit of the Karnataka State Higher Secondary Associate Teachers' Association, G. Veerkumar.
