Wakf Board functioning draws flak

HYDERABAD,
JAN. 18.
The House Committee of the Assembly on minorities welfare, which met here on Monday, expressed dissatisfaction over the functioning of the State Wakf Board. The committee has sought within three months the Action Taken Report on the recommendations made by it to streamline the board. It was noted that the panel had made 200 recommendations in two volumes in 1998 but little was done to address them.
Among the major recommendations were recovery of thousands of acres of precious land belonging to the board which had been encroached upon in the last three to four decades.
