Court adjourns Uma Bharti case
HUBLI,
JAN. 18.
A court today adjourned the hearing on the revision petition challenging the discharge of the former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Uma Bharti, and others in a decade-old criminal case to February 22.
When the petition came up for hearing, the first Additional District and Sessions Judge, Durgappa, ordered issue of fresh notice to one of the accused, Suresh Vasudevrao, and adjourned the hearing.
Social activists, led by Gowri Lankesh, had challenged the September 6, 2004 order by the Judicial Magistrate First Class discharging Ms. Bharti and 22 others in the criminal case relating to the violence that broke out during a BJP-led agitation to hoist the national flag at Idgah Midan here. PTI
