Pursue people's agenda, YSR tells officials
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD,
JAN. 18
. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has asked the State administration to henceforth make the "people's agenda" of the Congress Government a thrust area.
To disprove the naxalites' claim that the Government was anti-people like the previous regimes, he has reportedly asked them to shift the development-welfare mode of governance to a higher gear.
A day after the naxalites' decision to unilaterally withdraw from the talks, he advised officials to accord high priority to programmes such as land distribution, Indira Prabha (for land development) and other welfare measures such as old-age pensions.
He made these observations at a briefing by officials at the Secretariat today.
