Ranbaxy Laboratories reported a 2.1 per cent year-on-year decline in net profit at Rs. 743 crores in the year ended December 31, 2004. The consolidated sales of the company, however, grew 18 per cent as compared to last year to touch Rs. 5,333.30 crores, the company said in a release. In the fourth quarter, its net profit was down 10.9 per cent as compared to last fiscal to settle at Rs. 156.50 crores on a turnover of Rs. 1,423.50 crores. The company's sales in the quarter grew 24 per cent year-on-year. Ranbaxy's global sales in 2004 grew 21 per cent to $1178 million with the U.S. accounting for 36 per cent, Europe 16 per cent and BRIC countries 26 per cent.
Cipla
Cipla reported a 66.84 per cent increase in net profit at Rs. 125.67 crores for the quarter ended December 31, 2004 over the same period in the previous year. The company posted a net profit of Rs. 125.67 crores as compared to Rs. 75.32 crores, Cipla informed the Bombay Stock Exchange. Its total income increased 30 per cent to Rs. 637.32 crores from Rs. 489.43 crores in the corresponding period last fiscal, it added.
