THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 18. The BJP State president, P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, on Tuesday accused the State Government of diverting money given for relief of the victims of tsunami. Addressing a press conference, the BJP leader said the next of kin of those killed in the disaster were yet to get the Rs. 1 lakh each sanctioned by the Central Government. Besides, Rs. 1 lakh due to the victims' families from Matsyafed also had not reached them. Kerala was the only State that had failed to disburse the assistance from the Centre, he said. Mr. Pillai asked the Government to clarify why the assistance had not reached those affected by the calamity. The assistance so far received by the affected families was Rs. 5,000 or Rs. 7,500 for construction of temporary houses.
