ANANTAPUR, JAN. 18. The brother of a TDP sarpanch was hacked to death allegedly by Maoist sympathisers at Mukundapuram village in Garladinne mandal of the district today. The victim, Adinarayana (32), was the brother of Peddanna. According to the police, the group of Peddanna had differences with another group led by Maoist sympathiser Subbaiah for more than a year. The differences arose over harvesting crop. The Subbaiah group had allegedly felled about 200 sweet lime trees belonging to one Sivaiah of the Peddanna group last month. Adinarayana and a few other members of his family went to the fields this morning, when Subbaiah approached the former and told him that they wanted to sort out differences. Subbaiah took him to a nearby place where a group of 10 Maoist sympathisers had been lying in wait. In the meantime, Adinarayana's family members ran into the village and alerted Peddanna. Peddanna rushed to the fields along with his group only to find Adinarayana lying dead in a pool of blood. The Maoist sympathisers, including Subbaiah, fled the scene.
