By Our Staff Reporter

PATHANAMTHITTA, JAN 18. The Neyyabhishekom offering to the deity at the Lord Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala during the annual Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrim season came to a close with the Kalabhabhishekom ritual prior to the Utchapooja today.

The Tantri, Kantaru Mohanaru, assisted by the Melsanthi, V. Muraleedharan Namboodiri, performed the Kalabha puja at the Namaskara Mantapam of the temple at 11.30 a.m.

The Kalabhom (sandal paste) was taken to the sanctum sanctorum in a procession to the accompaniment of the `Marappani' and other traditional temple orchestra.

Bharaninaal Ravivarma Raja, representative of the Pandalam Palace, supervised the rituals.

`Guruti' ritual will be performed at Malikappuram tomorrow evening to propitiate the Bhoothagana of Lord Ayyappa, marking the culmination of the rituals in connection with the annual pilgrim season.

The temple will be closed after the darshan for the royal representative at 7 a.m. on Thursday.
