Hearing starts in defamation case against Chief Minister

BANGALORE,
JAN. 18.
The hearing on the defamation case filed by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) against the Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, commenced on Tuesday. The RSS had filed a defamation case against Mr. Dharam Singh for his remarks made against the sangh on October 2. It said that the Chief Minister had defamed the RSS by alleging that it had a hand in Mahatma Gandhi's assassination in 1948. It said this remark was made in the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office in Bangalore.
The RSS had filed a complaint under Section 5 of 500 Indian Penal Code against the Chief Minister.
