Residents foil bid to loot bank
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD,
JAN. 18.
Alert residents helped the Sanathnagar police avert an attempt to loot Syndicate Bank branch office at Snehapuri colony in Borabanda in the small hours of Tuesday. Satyam, 40, and Ramulu, 35, of the `defence squad,' who were patrolling the area, noticed that lights were on inside the bank premises around 3 a.m. They immediately alerted the beat constables who informed the Sanathnagar police station night duty officer. Soon, the police reached the spot and surrounded the building. However, the miscreants managed to escape.
The Balanagar ACP, Satyanarayana Reddy, said that the offenders sneaked in by removing window grills of the building. "Before they could break into the strong room, they were spotted by the alert residents," he said. An amount of Rs. 34 lakhs in cash and jewellery worth over Rs. 2 crores were inside the bank.
