Actor's gesture to fishermen

HYDERABAD, JAN. 18. Film actor Rajasekhar has donated Rs. 6.5 lakhs to the tsunami-affected fishermen in Prakasam district, for purchase of fishing nets to 150 farmers.

A cheque for the amount was handed over by the actor's wife, Jeevitha, to A. Murali, a Repalle-based dealer of fishing equipment on Tuesday, in the presence of the Commissioner, Fisheries, P. Krishnaiah.

Other donations

The Andhra Bank head office contributed a sum of Rs. 51 lakhs towards the Chief Minister's relief fund on Tuesday while an NRI, Laxmaiah Manchikanti, donated Rs. 10 lakhs, the Lions Club of Paloncha (Rs. 50,000), people of Guntur - I Assembly constituency (Rs. 22,252), B. Rammohan Reddy, Rayachoti, Cuddapah district (Rs. 10,000).

D. Joseph Kumar, of ZP High School, Pamarru East Godavari, N. S. N. Murthy of Kakinada, donated Rs. 7,000 each and Kubeer Vivekananda Youth Association (Rs. 6,820).
