Newborn baby found dead

A newborn baby girl was found dead in a nala in Paigah Colony under Begumpet police station limits on Tuesday. There were no external injuries, the police said.

Car stolen

Miscreants stole the car of a finance company director near his house, leaving behind the motorbike on which they had come, on Monday at Adarshnagar.

K. Radhakrishna parked his car on Sunday as usual in front of his house. The next morning, he found a motorcycle instead of his car in the parking place.

Fraud at

eSeva centre

Audit of accounts pertaining to the eSeva centre located in Tolichowki revealed that an employee had misappropriated funds to the tune of Rs. 16 lakhs from April to September 2004. Based on a complaint, the Humayunnagar police registered a cheating case against Narsinga Rao, an employee of the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad, who was on deputation with the eSeva centre.

Cash, jewellery stolen

Thieves stole Rs. 40,000 and gold ornaments weighing 10 tolas after breaking into quarter number 221 of New MLA Quarters at Adarshnagar on Tuesday. The quarter was allotted to the Minister for Major Industries, Botsa Satyanarayana, the Saifabad police said. M. Ramesh, a close relative of the Minister, was residing in the quarter along with his wife. The couple was not there when the crime was committed.

Juvenile home inmates escape

Five inmates of the Government Home for Boys located at Saidabad had been missing from January 10. Sources said the boys - Ashok (14), Srinivas (14), Saidulu (13) and Mallesh (14) - gave the slip when they were allowed to go out on some work by the Home supervisor, Saheb Hussain.

Another boy, Santosh, was also reportedly missing. The Saidabad Inspector, Sridhar, said that no complaint was lodged as yet.

NIMS professor loses cash

A professor of the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), R.A. Shastri, lost Rs. 3,000 and some important documents when thieves stole his wallet near operation theatre number-3 of the institute.
