Comfortable win for Irina

KOLKATA, JAN. 19. The Matchplay section of the gold division witnessed favourite Irina Brar of Chandigarh win the first round comfortably against Dimple Minocha in the 88th all-India ladies golf championship here today.

Irina, the gross title winner of the two-day Billo Sethi Trophy, played confidently with birdies on the first and fourth holes, and one over on the front nine after bogeying the eighth. She clinched the issue on the 11th hole.

In the other encounters, Bhawna Shetty of Bangalore beat Nitika Jadeja on the 15th, while Chandigarh's Saanya Sharma beat Pragya Mishra of Delhi on the 19th hole in one of the closest contests of the division.
