Tsunami virus strikes cyber world

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, JAN 19. A tsunami has now struck the cyber world. And netizens have every reason to worry.

Unidentified virus writers have unleashed a mass-mailing worm titled tsunami, apparently trying to lure email users to open attachments that seem to be pleas for donations for tsunami disaster victims.

The worm, named VBSun-A, appears in mailboxes as an attachment with the filename tsunami.exe and pretends to offer information on where to send donations for tsunami victims. But once the attachment is clicked on, the worm mails itself to others.

The infected emails would have the subject line: Tsunami Disaster! Please help! The message implores the recipient to help the disaster victims with donations. "View the attachment below! We need you!" the message would say to try to lure the user.
