KONDA MALLEPALLY (NALGONDA DT.), JAN. 19. The Nalgonda police have formed three special teams to find out the whereabouts of the Gudipally Sub-Inspector, Raju, who has been missing since Monday morning. The Devarakonda DSP, Narayana Naik, who called on the parents of Raju at Begampet village in Kandukur mandal of Ranga Reddy district, told The Hindu on Wednesday that the missing officer had called up his mother to know her health condition. However, Mr. Raju did not reveal where he was making the call from. "He made two calls to his mother and told her on Wednesday that he would be coming home tomorrow," a police officer said. A police team sought the help of the Telcom Department to install caller identification facility Raju's parents' telephone.
`Not with naxals'
"It is confirmed that he is not in the captivity of naxalites as reported in a section of the press. He might have gone to Tirupati for mental peace," an officer said. A police party met the friends and relatives of Mr.Raju in Hyderbad, but to no avail. Meanwhile, the DSP said Mr. Raju was not interested in working at Gudipally. "He approached me many a time to use my offices to shift him to another place. Since I am not the competent authority to transfer him, I asked Mr. Raju to approach higher-ups," the DSP said refuting allegations that Mr. Raju had been kidnapped by Maoists.
