Rasta roko against shifting of police station

By Our Staff Reporter

SANGAREDDY, 19. JAN. Residents of Maktamasanpalli of Gajwel mandal organised a rasta roko on Wednesday, protesting against the shifting of the police station to Gajwel.

With increased Maoist activity the district police had decided to shift the station to Gajwel, which is just eight kilometers away and structurally much stronger. Protesting against the decision, villagers under Maktamasanpalli police station limits organised a rasta roko, blocking traffic on the Gajwel main road and raised slogans against the police. However they relented after the DSP assuring them that this was a temporary arrangement and the station would be back to its original place after the Maoist activity subsided.
