India u-19 takes on England u-19

BANGALORE, JAN. 20. "We want to win all our matches," said the England skipper Steven Davies as the team takes on India in the first four-day (under-19) Test commencing at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Friday.

The English team lost its first practice game against a Karnataka XI and made amends with a five-wicket victory in the second after being down on the mat at 59 for five while chasing 207, thanks to Moeen Ali (86 n.o.) and Thomas Smith (75 n.o.).

Skipper Davies, who is also the wicket-keeper, seamer Ben Harmison, Adam Harrison and Mark Lawson have played in the under-19 World Cup at Dhaka last year. Coach Andy Pick said that the tour was a learning experience.

The Indian coach Venkatesh Prasad said, "ours boys are very talented and have the commitment and desire to do well." Captain A.T. Rayudu, Shikar Dhawan, opener Robin Uthappa and vice-captain Manoj Tiwari will have to chip in consistently.

Hardevinder Singh, Abid Nabi and local boy Gaurav Dhiman will lead the seam attack while Piyush Chawla's leg-breaks and off-spinner Harvinder Singh, left-arm spinner Avinash Yadav will lend the spin support.
