50 p.c. quota for central candidates

PONDICHERRY, JAN. 20. A press release from the Under Secretary to the Pondicherry Education Department, K. Jayavelu, said today that the Administration had decided that 50 percent of the 100 seats in the Usha Latchumanan College of Education at Tirukanur near here be filled under government quota through the Central Admission Committee (CENTAC) and the balance by the management after getting it approved by the Admission Committee headed by Justice A. Ramamurthy.

It said that based on the application made by the College for starting B.Ed course for the academic year 2004-2005, the Madras High court had directed the Pondicherry Administratrion to dispose the application for starting the course. The college had obtained affiliation from the Pondicherry University on December 16 last year.

The release said that the institution should also obtain orders of the Fee Committee headed by Justice P. Thangavel for fixing the admission fee.
