Biocon net up 63 p.c.

BANGALORE, JAN. 20. The profit after tax of Biocon is up 63 per cent at Rs. 155 crores over the nine months ended December 31, while that in the third quarter stood at Rs. 50.30 crores.

The Chairman and Managing Director, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, said that the revenues of the company in the nine months had increased by 39 per cent to Rs. 550 crores (while the revenue for the third quarter was Rs. 183 cores).

The Chairman dedicated the increase in total revenue to the technological development. The revenues from the biopharmaceuticals business has gone up by 33 per cent to Rs. 426 crores from Rs. 321 crores, contributing 79 per cent of the total sales.

The research services revenues increased by 75 per cent to Rs. 47 crores from Rs. 27 crores. And the earnings per share were Rs. 15.50 for the nine-month period. Exports this year touched 63 per cent while last year it was 59 per cent.
