BANGALORE, JAN. 20. Kingfisher Airlines, which is slated to take-off on May 7 this year, will be going in for 30 new Airbus A320 aircraft, the deliveries of which have been spread out till mid-2007, and will be a unique airline in the Indian skies, according to the UB Group Chairman, Vijay Mallya. May 7, incidentally, happens to be Mr. Mallya's son's 18th birthday. Promising to give the best "inflight experience" under the brand of "Kingfisher Class", Mr. Mallya said that every seat on the aircraft would have its own entertainment system. According to the schedule Kingfisher Airlines would operate on a system of "multiple flights" in a day on a single route, he said and mentioned that it would begin with Mumbai-Delhi followed by Mumbai-Bangalore in September this year and when the next batch of aircraft arrives Bangalore-Delhi route. Kingfisher Airlines, a subsidiary of UB Holdings, had made preliminary payments to Airbus Industrie for ten aircraft. The 30 aircraft would cost over Rs. 8,000 crores, he said and mentioned that as and when the company would go in for wide-bodied aircraft.
