Bellary
By Our Staff Correspondent
BELLARY, JAN. 20. The State Government has agreed to grant ownership to farmers who have personal inam lands. An order to this effect will be passed within a week, Pratap Reddy, Secretary of the Janata Dal (Secular) State unit, has said. Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, Mr. Reddy said several cases involving around 30,000 acres of land in Bellary taluk are yet to be disposed of as they are under personal inam. He said that owing to a communication gap, several farmers in possession of the lands had filed an application in Form 7 instead of the prescribed Form 1 and 2. "In Bellary taluk, there are 4,817 farmers trying to get the benefit of the Government Order. Though these farmers are in possession of the land, they are deprived of absolute ownership and are unable to dispose it," he said.
