By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, JAN. 20. A 25-year-old man has been arrested by the South-West Delhi police for allegedly killing his wife at Vasant Vihar in South-West Delhi on January 16. He had allegedly been torturing his wife for dowry.

According to the police, a woman, identified as Meenakshi, had been declared brought dead at Safdarjung Hospital on January 16. Her husband, Surender Tokas, claimed that she had fallen from her third floor house. However, the police suspected Surender's version. The area Sub-Divisional Magistrate was informed about the incident.

Meenakshi's family members told the SDM that she was being tortured by Surender and his family members for dowry since the marriage. The SDM directed the police to register a case of cruelty by husband and murder.

The police gathered further information about Surender's behaviour towards his wife following which he was arrested. During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had badly beaten up his wife on the fateful day. She had sustained serious injuries on her head which led to her death.
