CHANDIGARH, JAN.20. A senior BJP leader and candidate from the Mahendergarh constituency, Ram Bilas Sharma, today accused both the Congress and the ruling Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) of "inaction'' so far as the construction of the remaining portion of the Satluj Yamuna Link Canal is concerned. Addressing a press conference here today, Mr.Sharma, a former Education Minister, said that the dissidence within the Haryana unit of the Congress would help the BJP in making inroads in Haryana. Moreover, the people were fed up with the "misrule'' of the Chautala regime and they had made up their mind to reject the Congress as the UPA Government at the Centre had not only failed to deliver the goods but had also imposed economic burden after burden on the masses. The BJP, which is contesting all the 90 Assembly seats for the first time, was being viewed as an "alternative'' and it would certainly form the next Government in the State, he asserted. Meanwhile, the former President of the Haryana unit of the Lok Jan Shakti Party, Shamsher Singh Malik, joined the BJP at Rohtak today. Mr.Malik told this reporter telephonically that he had decided to join the BJP as both the Congress and the INLD promoted "dynastic rule and indulged in corruption." These two parties had also failed to protect the interests of the people of Haryana on the SYL Canal imbroglio. He further said that it was shocking that the Congress leaders had distributed party tickets to family members and rank outsiders in the backdrop of allegations that some tickets had even been "sold'' for hefty prices.
