In the second, a 25-year-old youth died in Velachery after a container fell on him from a lorry. Police said Abdul Rahman (31) of Aminjakarai, the circulation manager of an advertisement magazine, was passing through Whannels Road in Egmore, when a bus hit him from behind. Mr. Rahman fell from his vehicle and was caught under the rear wheel of the bus. He died on the spot. Anna Square police registered a case and arrested Saravanan (34), the bus driver. In the other accident at 11.15 a.m., P. Senthil, who was watching a container lorry backing up, died after a container fell on him. The accident took place when the rear wheel of the lorry got stuck in a manhole, tilting the container, which fell on Senthil, killing him instantly. A woman riding a two-wheeler managed to escape. However, her vehicle was damaged. Police said Senthil was a driver for a ceramic agency in Sarathy Nagar. Both the driver and cleaner of the container lorry managed to escape.
