CHENNAI, JAN. 20. The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) on Thursday took up partial demolition of a building at Sowcarpet stating that it was in violation of Development Control Rules. According to sources, the government agency had taken up the demolition of front elevation of a building situated at 50, Thirupalli Street, Sowcarpet as it had setback violations. Chennai Corporation employees, who had been deployed for the work, tore down portions of the building belonging to Sri Siwarchi Madras Jain Sangh.
