By Our Staff Correspondent MANGALORE, JAN. 20. The United Karavali Artists, a forum formed in aid of tsunami victims, has raised Rs. 1,20,001 through sale of paintings by its artist members. The cheque was handed over by the forum convenor, V.U. George, to the Deputy Commissioner here on Thursday.
72 paintings
It could be recalled here that about 72 paintings were exhibited in the Canara College auditorium on January 9 where corporates, banks, benefactors bought the paintings. As many as 42 artists from Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod districts took part in the painting camp meant to raise funds. Receiving the cheque, the Deputy Commissioner, Arvind Srivastava, thanked the United Karavali Artists for the contribution.
