NEW DELHI, JAN. 20. Crime serial `India TV's Most Wanted,' producer, Suhaib Ilyasi, today moved the Delhi High Court seeking a direction to the Delhi Government and the Delhi police to provide him security. The serial producer through his counsel told Justice Manmohan Sarin that he required security because he had received threat calls from a Bollywood actor on whose alleged racket of trapping and exploiting innocent girls in the name of giving them breaks in the film industry he had conducted a sting operation. He submitted that the actor had started threatening him after he came to know about the recording of his conversations with such girls on audio tapes by him. He further stated that the actor threatened him with dire consequences if he dared to telecast the conversations in his serial. Taking note of his complaint and the plea, Justice Sarin directed the Standing Counsel of the Union Government, Kailash Gambhir, to file a reply to the petition within two weeks. Later, Mr. Sarin fixed Febrauary 17 for taking up Ilyasi's application for hearing. In his submission, Mr. Gambhir stated that the Government was ready to provide him X- category security as recommended by the security agencies after studying the threat perception to him. He submitted that Ilyasi did not deserve security above the X-category as he was neither on the hit list of any terrorist outfit nor his programme was a venture which could be defined as a public interest one. Countering Mr. Gambhir's submission, counsel for Ilyasi submitted that though his serial was a commercial venture, it had helped the Delhi police solve several cases in the past. Therefore, he was a serving a public interest by helping the State to perform its fundamental duty of providing secure environment to its citizens, he added.
