NEW DELHI, JAN. 21. The Chairman of Narayana Hrudyalaya, Dr. Devi Shetty, dental surgeon Dr. Anil Kohli and the Chairman of the Metro Group of Hospitals, Dr. Purshottam Lal, have been selected for the prestigious Dr. B.C. Roy Award for the year 2003. The management committee of the Dr. B.C. Roy National Award Fund has selected Dr. Shetty and Dr. Lal in "recognition of the best talents in encouraging the development of specialities" while the dental surgeon at Soni's Dental Clinic here was selected in the `Socio Medical Relief' category. Dr. Shetty was instrumental in setting up the largest chain of heart care beds under the banner of Narayana Hrudyalaya based in Bangalore. Dr. Kohli, also a Padmashree awardee (1992), represents the country and Sri Lanka as the council man for the International College of Dentists. Dr. Lal, who revolutionised heart care treatment, has developed many techniques primarily to reduce the cost of operations in the field of interventional cardiology. Other medical doctors who have been selected include Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr. Anupam Sachdev from the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and Dr. Ravi Kasliwal from the Escorts Heart Institute.
