Sleeping in House

Sir, — This refers to the Supreme Court verdict upholding the dismissal of an employee for habitual sleeping during office hours.

It reminds me of an incident involving the former Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Ananthasayanam Iyengar.

After lunch, when the House assembled, a member brought a point of order saying an MP was snoring and that it disturbed him.

The Speaker ruled: "The honourable member may sleep but shall not snore."

Is sleeping sans snoring still allowed in the Lok Sabha?
