Mutt may move apex court for relaxation of bail conditions

By Our Staff Reporter

KANCHEEPURAM, JAN. 21. The Kanchi Sankara Mutt is thinking of moving the Supreme Court seeking relaxation in the conditions laid down by the Court for the release of the Kanchi Sankaracharya, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi, on bail, according to the counsel for the Mutt, A. Shanmugham.

Talking to reporters here today, counsel said the Mutt was likely to move the Court on Monday. About the charge sheet filed by the Special Investigation Team today, Mr. Shanmugham expressed confidence that the Acharya and the Sankara Mutt would emerge unscathed since the prosecution had relied on the statement made by one of the accused-turned approver, Ravi Subramaniam. "Though they had filed umpteen number of files and records, they had relied upon Ravi Subramaniam's confession statement. This statement will in no way affect our case," he claimed.
