CHENNAI, JAN. 21 . The Centre has cleared the Tamil Nadu Government's proposal for setting up two more apparel parks and four high-tech powerloom parks. The apparel parks will be set up at Irunkattukottai here and in Madurai. The high-tech powerloom parks will be located at Erode, Komarapalayam in Salem district, Palladam in Coimbatore district and Andipatti in Theni district. The Centre will give a grant of Rs. 20 crores each to the apparel parks for setting up common effluent treatment plants, providing infrastructure and for giving advanced training to workers. The park will be a cluster of units producing export-oriented garments. As for the high-tech powerloom parks, the Centre will bear Rs. 80 per sqft up to 14,400 sqft for construction of shed, besides granting a 20 per cent capital subsidy or 5 per cent interest concession from the Powerloom Technical Upgradation Fund.
