NALGONDA, JAN. 21. Moulana Sayyad Eshanuddin Khasim has urged the Government to introduce a special scheme for Muslim youth on the lines of Rajiv Yuva Shakti. During Id-ul-Zuha address at Idgah Maidan here on Friday, he said: ``A minimum of 10 per cent posts should be reserved for Muslims in the public sector as well as private sector. Agricultural land should be distributed among poor Muslims.'' "For 1.23 crore Scheduled Castes and 60 lakh STs, the Government has allotted Rs.860 crores and Rs.554 crores respectively. Whereas only Rs.39 crores have been allocated for 85 lakh Muslims who are languishing in poverty," he noted. He wanted the Government and political parties reserve 5 per cent of posts for representatives of the community in telephone advisory committees, assignment committees and other posts.
Id celebrated
Our Adilabad Correspondent writes: Muslims celebrated Bakrid with religious fervour on Friday. Thousands of Muslims offered prayers at Idgah and Jama Masjid. Devout visited houses of relatives and friends to greet them on the occasion.
