CUDDAPAH, JAN. 22. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, must initiate land distribution by distributing surplus lands owned by him, the former Minister and TDP leader, Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, said on Sunday. Speaking at the district TDP general body meeting here, Dr. Rao, accused Dr. Reddy of encroaching upon lands adjoining YSR Estates near Vempalle. The extent of forest and wasteland encroachment and those registered under `benami' names should be brought out, he said. Dr. Rao further charged the AICC president, Sonia Gandhi, with belittling the late Prime Minister, P.V. Narasimha Rao, by not allowing his body to be placed at the AICC office. Permission was denied to cremate Rao at New Delhi and last rites performed with official honours half-heartedly, he alleged. He also accused Dr. Reddy of trying to force his brother and Cuddapah MP, Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, to resign in order to accommodate his son, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy. A case was foisted on the former Minister, P. Ramasubba Reddy, who was recently sentenced to life and a non-bailable case foisted against the party's Pulivendula constituency in charge, S.V. Satish Kumar Reddy, he alleged.
Government vindictive
Accusing the Congress Government of being vindictive, he said the TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, and leaders would stand by the party cadre in countering it. Criticising the Finance Minister, K. Rosaiah's contention that free power supply would be reconsidered, Dr. Rao recalled his `tall claims' of streamlining power sector during TDP rule.
Irrigation projects
The TDP was not opposing execution of irrigation projects, but focussing on tender irregularities and contractors' syndicate formed at the behest of an MLA of Cuddapah district, he alleged. He criticised the Agriculture Minister, N. Raghuveera Reddy, alleging that moratorium on loans deprived 65 per cent of farmers from securing private loans. While cooperative central banks gave meagre loans, nationalised banks meted out a raw deal to ryots, he said.
