Around the City

No change in temperature

Partly cloudy with a likely minimum temperature of 18 degree Celsius is forecast for Sunday. The city on Saturday recorded a maximum temperature of 30 degree Celsius and a minimum of 17.4 degree Celsius. Relative humidity was 48 per cent.

New reservation centre of SCR

A new computerised passenger reservation centre of the South Central Railway (SCR) will be opened at Mehdipatnam at 10.30 a.m. on January 24. It will be 11th reservation centre of the SCR in the twin cities.

Programme on DD-8 for students

B.R. Ambedkar Open University will organise a live teleconferencing programme for B.Sc third year students on `Transistor characteristics' on Sunday on DD-8 channel from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Free ENT camp on Jan. 24, 25

A free ear, nose and throat (ENT) camp will be conducted at Mahavir Hospital and Research Centre on January 24 and 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The camp will offer 20 per cent discount on investigations and surgeries and free distribution of drugs for two days, according to a release.

Brahmotsavam from Feb. 9

The six-day Brahmotsavam of Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple, Durganagar Colony, Panjagutta, will be held from February 9. `Kalyanotsavam' will be held on February 13, followed by `Vasantotsavam' and `Maha kumbhabishekam' on the concluding day.

Best teacher award given

S. Praveen Kumar, Assistant Professor, JSPS Government Homoeo Medical College, Ramanthapur, on Saturday was presented Dr. B.K. Bose National Best Teacher Award in homoeopathy for 2005 at the national homoeo conference at Amaravati in Maharashtra. Dr. Kumar was first person from the State to receive the award, according to a press note.

Rafi musical nite on Jan. 25

The Hyderabad Young Men's Association is organising a musical nite in memory of Mohammed Rafi at Lalita Kala Thoranam at 6 p.m. on January 25.

Spot painting competition

St. Paul's High School will conduct a spot painting competition on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. for schoolchildren studying between classes one and 10. Five top prizes will be awarded, besides overall first prize in each category.
