Vinodh Sridhar is top seed

MADURAI, JAN. 23. Vinodh Sridhar has been seeded first and Ajay Selvaraj, also from Chennai second for a field of 16 in the men's singles draw of the TNTA State-ranking tennis tournament, which gets under way along with the men's singles at the Madurai Union Club courts here on Monday.

In the boys' u-12 section, Mohit Mayur of Chennai has been seeded first and Alla Srikar of Andhra Pradesh second.

L. Vairavan and Rajeev (both locals) have been given wild cards for the men's draw, which will also include four from the qualifying rounds, which will conclude only on Monday.

The qualifying rounds for boys' u-12 were held on Sunday and eight qualified from a field of 30 in the third and final round.

Apart from these eight, there are four wild card entries — A. Praveen Raj, K. Hariharan, Sanchit and Vairavan Gautham.

The results:

Third qualifying round): Harsh Vardan bt S. Sivabalan 7-3; Ashwin bt M. Navin Bhaskaran 7-0; S.A. Venkatatesha Krishnan bt L. Aravind 7-1; Anuraag Balasubramanian bt Prasanth S. Narayanan 7-1; M. Monish Rajer bt R.R. Varun Das 7-4; Joshna Janane Jayam bt Mohamed Abrar 7-1; Himansu Sagar bt V. Dilip Kumar 7 (7-2)-6; K. Pratheesh bt Vinesh Ravi 7-0.
