Bitta meets Acharya

By Our Staff Reporter

VELLORE, JAN. 23. The Haryana Youth Congress leader and all-India president of the Anti Terrorist Front, Maninder Singh Bitta, met the Kanchi Sankaracharya, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi, at Kalavai on Sunday.

Earlier talking to newspersons, Mr. Bitta described the Acharya's arrest in the Sankararaman murder case and the Radhakrishnan assault case as "political terrorism." Earlier, such "terrorism" used to be perpetrated only against politicians, but Sri Jayendra Saraswathi was the first religious leader to be subjected to "political terrorism".

Mr. Bitta said he came to see the Acharya as a devotee and not as a Congress representative.

Visits Kanchi Mutt

Mr. Bitta visited the Sankara Mutt and offered prayers at the `Mahaperiyawal Adhishtanam.'
