Kumbabhishekam of Jain temple

TIRUNELVELI, JAN.24 . The kumbabhishekam of Sri Suparshwanath Jain Swetember Temple on East Car Street, Tirunelveli Town, was held here today in which over 2,000 members of Jain community from all over the country participated.

After renovation was done at the 45-year-old temple on an outlay of several lakhs, various rituals and special prayers were performed prior to the kumbabhishekam. The marble statues of Sri Suparshwanath, Sri Sangeshwarparshwanath and Sri Manmohanparshwanath, which were brought from Jaipur, have been installed in the temple. Special abhishegam on these statues were performed with saffron.

Kumbabhishekam was performed at 10.01 a.m. today, in which a large number of Jain community members participated. All business establishments being run by the members of Jain community were closed in view of the celebrations.

Annadhanam for the poor was given at a marriage hall and at Sri Nellaiyappar Gandhimathi Ambal Temple after the kumbabhishegam.

A religious rally was organised by the members of Jain community in the city yesterday, in which the Collector, Atul Anand, participated with the traditional headgear of Rajasthan.
