CBI asked to file status report on probe into Dubey's charges
By Our Legal Correspondent
NEW DELHI,
JAN. 24
. The Supreme Court today asked the Central Bureau of Investigation to file a status report on the investigations conducted by it in respect of the allegations of corruption levelled by Satyendra Dubey, a National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) engineer, who was allegedly killed for exposing corruption.
A Bench of Justice Ruma Pal and Justice C.K. Thakker gave four weeks to the CBI to file the report after counsel, Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the petitioner, Parivartan, submitted that a mafia gang was cornering most of the sub-contracts in the Golden Quadrilateral project portion passing through Bihar.
Counsel contended that though the issue pertaining to whistle blowers had been taken care of by the Court, the authorities were not taking any action regarding Mr. Dubey's allegations.
