MANGALORE, JAN. 24. The Karavali Utsav Grounds will don a festive look again with the coming of The Great Royal Circus. The circus will start playing in Mangalore on February 5. Addressing presspersons here on Monday, the organiser of the circus, Sachindranath, said this circus group was first established in 1906 but came to India only two years ago. The group had had held shows in Kenya, Kuwait, Singapore, Syria, Uganda, Iraq and Iran. The last time a circus group came to Mangalore was three years ago. The Great Royal Circus would play for one month with three shows a day at 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. The circus comprised 200 artistes with 80 per cent of them from Russia, said Mr. Sachindranath. The circus did not have any performances by wild animals, as India had prohibited the use of wild animals in circus, he said.
