71 more DPCs opened in Nagapattinam

NAGAPATTINAM, JAN. 24. The Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation opened 71 more Direct Purchase Centres (DPCs) in Nagapattinam district today.

Already 115 DPCs were purchasing samba paddy from farmers, the Collector, J. Radhakrishnan, told The Hindu here. The Government was offering Rs.590 a quintal for `A' grade paddy and Rs. 560 for the common variety with a moisture content of up to 17 per cent.

However, the DPCs were purchasing paddy with a moisture content of up to 20 per cent with the usual grade cut in the price.
