Rain likely

Forecast: Partly cloudy sky. Possibility of light rain in some areas. Minimum temperature would be around 20 degree Celsius. At Waltair, the maximum temperature was 28.4 deg. C and the minimum was 22.0 deg. C respectively on Monday. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 76 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 82 per cent. At Airport, the maximum and minimum temperatures were 32.0 deg. C and 20.4 deg. C respectively. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 74 per cent and at 5.30 p.m. was 66 per cent. The maximum temperature at the Dolphin's Nose was 29.6 deg. C and the minimum temperature was 21.0 deg. C. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 84 per cent.

Blood donation camp

A blood donation camp will be organised by Sri Sathya Seva Samithi on Wednesday at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India at Maddilapalem. According to its convener, B. Rama Rao, the blood donated will be utilised for the benefit of poor patients at King George Hospital and Victoria General Hospital in view of the acute shortage of blood there.

Church celebration

The bi-centenary celebration of London Mission Memorial Church began on Sunday at the church premises at Kotha Road in the city. The church secretary, S.J. Sundar Rao, detailed the services of the church in the fields of education and health, including establishment of the CBM School. Bishop Frederick of the Rayalaseema Diocese said it was the only church celebrating 200 years of its existence in the region. The church chairman and vice-chairman, G. Dyvasahayam and Joel Samuel, also participated.

Holiday for

meat shops

The Municipal Corporation has declared a holiday for slaughterhouses, meat, beef and chicken stalls in the city on Wednesday, the Republic Day. Action will be taken against those violating the orders, a VMC press release said.

Appointed

The Assistant Commissioner of Endowments, S. Kondala Rao, has been entrusted full additional charge of Deputy Commissioner of Endowments for the three north Andhra districts. The charge was handed over to him following the transfer of the Deputy Commissioner, P. Yugandhar, who has been elevated as Regional Joint Commissioner and posted as Vigilance Officer at the Endowment Commissionerate in Hyderabad.
