Educational institutions to remain closed

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, JAN. 24 . Educational institutions in Hyderabad city will remain closed on Tuesday in view of the bandh call given by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to protest against the killing of its MLA from Penukonda, Paritala Ravi. "The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure", the Collector, Arvind Kumar, said. Schools in Ranga Reddy district will also be closed in all likelihood.

The Director, School Education, A. Ramakrishna Rao, told The Hindu that the DEOs have been instructed to take a decision depending on the situation tomorrow in consultation with District Collectors. "Wherever there is a likelihood of eruption of violence, the DEOs have been asked to declare closure of schools", he said.
