Chin Christians hold protest rally
By Our Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI,
JAN. 24.
The exiled Chin Christians of Myanmar today staged a demonstration at Jantar Mantar here to protest against the removal of the Holy Cross in Matupi township of Chin State by the Military Junta on January 3. They alleged that the Cross was destroyed as part of the policy of religious persecution on the part of the Junta which wanted to forcibly convert the Christians in Chin to Buddhism.
The protestors appealed to the international community to condemn the incident and also intervene in Myanmar to put an end to the blatant human rights abuse there. Demanding that the Junta immediately withdraw policies of forced conversions in Chin State, where people largely follow Christianity, the protestors said the Army men responsible for the act should be held accountable.
