NEW DELHI, JAN. 24. The President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, met the bravest among Generation X at his residence here in the Capital today. He also gave them a plaque and a copy of his book `Ignited Minds' as a memento of the visit.

"Bravery is linked to being alone. Brave people are out there on their own,'' said Dr. Kalam addressing the 18 young recipients of the National Bravery Award this year. Referring to Helen Keller, he said that she had been brave despite all her disabilities.

Encouraging the children to aim higher, Dr. Kalam said that they should not be satisfied with this award since they were at the threshold of life.

Congratulating the children, Dr. Kalam said that the parents were blessed that their children had come up with such brave acts. He also spoke about the recent tsunami disaster where many children had helped out with heroic acts. "History is known for people who have been brave. They think differently and they are always successful in life,'' he said.
