NAGERCOIL, JAN.25. The Federation of Seashell Workers, Kanyakumari district, has urged the Government to provide relief measures to them also. A resolution to this effect was unanimously passed at a consultative meeting held here on Tuesday. They also urged the Government to provide free medicines and other relief packages to them. In another resolution they urged the Government to provide for their rehabilitation, and reconstruction of their property etc, besides extending financial assistance. In yet another resolution, the federation demanded that as seashell collecting and processing people were being put to much hardship, the Government should consider them as `direct dependents' of sea and sea resources. The director of HEAL movement, Siluvai Vasthian, director of Chennai Black theatre, Suresh Dharma, and others participated in the consulatative meeting.
