LONDON, JAN 24. The Commonwealth Business Council (CBC) has launched a new service, CBC Technologies, to meet the growing demand for advice and help in offshore outsourcing. Speaking at its launch here, Mohan Kaul, CBC director-general, said the world was entering "a new era of global services and CBC Technologies is at the forefront of this movement.'' "The U.K. is seen as a gateway to Europe for many businesses. Many international technology and service providing organisations have set up operations in the U.K. and the Commonwealth comprises 54 nations, some with excellent capabilities to provide remote services to U.K. customers,'' he said. Anoop Singh, Managing Director of CBC Technologies said the service would be "both vendor and destination neutral.'' "CBC Technologies is continuously analysing best practice and future trends in offshore outsourcing. "We aim to help companies manage the governance of offshore outsourcing by combining the global influence of the CBC with private sector expertise,'' he said. Jerry Rao, Chairman of the Indian National Association of Software and Services Companies and Managing Director of MphasiS, stressed that India was becoming the hub for the global "24x7x365'' supply chain. Data protection was becoming increasingly important and India was ready to meet the challenge. "We are running better background checks on IT and BPO staff than anyone, anywhere in the world, because we take the management of our clients' sensitive data seriously,'' he said.
